Seriously, what the fuck. There are few bands in the mainstream that I actually like, and that is because they work their asses off to do what they do, and don't let producers all the work. The underground bands that I listen to keep breaking up, music has gone to shit. What happened to the days of the 90's, where you could turn on the radio and hear an awesome song one after another. I fucking hate the music industry, someone needs to come along and destroy it, this "nu-metal" bullshit is fucking annoying... god I hate music today - bastards.

Anyone else?

well, i think the bigger problem is that after seattle in the early 90s, no complete music scene can really be fully allowed to develop without getting noticed in its infancy. there isn't really any center to the nu-metal scene, nor is there any center to the indie rock scene, or garage rock revival, etc etc. so you get music that is identified and thrust into the limelight and categorized without any real association to what might be other good music. whereas nirvana and pearl jam brought out a whole slew of good bands in their wake, that doesn't really seem to happen anymore. good bands, if they are even identified by the mainstream, just get swept up into some fad, whether fairly or not. look at the great "garage rock" revival/revolution that supposedly happened last year, with the strokes, white stripes, hives, etc etc. the bands combined didn't even sell 2 million albums, and korn in an off year sold over 3 million. if there was a cohesive, quality scene thrust onto centerstage, then i suspect you would have a better average quality of song on the radio eventually. just don't see how that could happen anymore though.

but then again, i've gotten so far past being angry about it, might as well just scour around to find the good bands that are out there. it's highly unlikely that the radio will ever lead you to them again.

point taken, the thing that pisses me off the most is bands like Sparta and Deftones get swept into this, where they are underground but not played on the radio, even though Sparta put out the best rock record last year. Then bands like The Mars Volta get all this praise for being creative, yet Glifted, Hum, National Skyline, On, Failure don't get any fucking credit where credit is due. The Mars Volta is original in it's own right, but I heard it all in the 70's, there is no need to recreate the sound. I don't want to rant on them again, but it really pisses me off that Glifted doesn't get any credit, they came out with the most original album last year in my opinion. As for Failure, Hum, On, National Skyline, yeah, well all of those bands are now put on hold or broken up, but they made great music that should be mainstream, but it isn't because Anthrax fucked it up for all of us! (Just kidding, don't wet your pants)

Ahh... this blows...
