More New Bands to Check Out

Alright man, new album found. When I first checked out Shiner I listened through Lula Divinia, which turned out to be a remarkably awful mistake. Get "The Egg" right now. Just find a way. Download it, buy it, sell a soul for it -- something. I haven't heard an album this good in a long, long time. I'm finally getting all the hype and Failure comparisons with this band, and everyone of those comparisons is turning true. I haven't listened to their other albums aside from Lula Divinia, but The Egg is solid gold.

Yeah, I suppose I should have been clearer in my recommendation. That is the album I have, and it's good. I'm not blown away by it, but it's solid.

Picked up a cd this weekend that I highly recommend, if you can find it. Band is Burning Airlines, cds are Mission Control and Identikit. First album features the two main songwriters from Jawbox, the last one is just the lead singer, but they're fucking excellent. Also, Q and not U, another excellent DC band. Different damage is a really good cd (although I don't know if it is up Jim's alley or not).

I'm a local music whore.

Alrighty. Now that I have mastered the use of this increbile forum I will add my 2 cents to this new music stuff. I don't know anything aboot any of the bands everyone has listed. I've never heard "At the Drive-In" or "Sparta" or "Mars Volta" or any of that stuff. I've heard that a lot of it sounds like Glassjaw who I think are amazing. So many guitar parts flying around and unique bass playing, I love it. They are the only semi-popular band that I like. Then we move onto the underground stuff that I know of. The only two other bands that have put out their first album in this decade that I like are Dog Fashion Disco and Tub Ring. Dog Fashion Disco is a very unique mix of metal and jazz with a very errie circus sound(You'd have to hear it to understand). They are what I think of as a mix between Mr. Bungle and System of a Down. Check them out, I know the other guys would have to agree with me on this. This leads me to Tub Ring. They are odd to say the least about them. They are Mr Bungle on crack. They have to be one of the craziest bands I've ever heard. Check them out as well, if you like just crazy, off the wall type music with lots of tempo changes and time signature changes. Well I guess that's all for me........and by the way. Geddy Lee is amazing so don't talk shit about him. Until my next entry, which will probably be in five minutes..........

dog fashion disco is cool as shit, i hate glassjaw because of their singer... i think he is god awful, but the music is very respectful, bass player is pretty sick.... tub ring is fuckin' crazy as shit, i will agree with that.... and geddy lee, i don't like his style, but i respect him, i hate his voice, and i hate his music, most of it that is, but you gotta lay down respect for the guy, he is a very talented individual.
