this is gonna take some thinking - in no particular order, my personal favorites -
nirvana - in utero
deftones - around the fur
failure - fantastic planet
hum - you'd prefer an astronaut
smashing pumpkins - siamese dream
tool - aenima
at the drive in - relationship of command
far - water and solutions
weezer - pinkerton
the cure - pornography
*this is a hard, hard list to compile, im not even sure if this is really correct, so many bands to think about. but those are the people fresh off my head. that collection of music is simply incredible. and yes, weezer belongs on that list! _________________ spent the look in your eyes

I love these damn things!!!! No particular order and the top 7 are always gonna stay in the top 10 but the last three are just what came off the top of my head...and yes Brad, Weezer totally belongs on any top 10 list, the Blue Album is about as close as anyone has gotten to a perfect record in my opinion.
1. A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms
2. Tool - Aenema
3. Weezer - Blue Album
4. Rage Against The Machine - Self Titled
5. At The Drive-In - Relationship of Command
6. Whiskeytown - Pnemonia
7. Pete Yorn - Musicforthemorningafter
8. Radiohead - The Bends
9. Catherine Wheel - Chrome
10. Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral or The Fragile depending what day you ask me. Today i'd say Fragile.
Someone please debate me on these, i love that shit...I'll tell you why your choices suck too. _________________ The new STYX album is comprable to a parking lot full of whale vomit. |

Dude, first off you haven't even heard that record. Second, dude, STP? Tell Scott to go back to doing heroin and make a decent album. You shouldn't have them in the top 10 just on principal for making shangila di da. And dude, you don't put any alice in chains album in your top 10 unless its Dirt. Period. Dirt is above and beyond anything else they ever did. _________________ The new STYX album is comprable to a parking lot full of whale vomit. |

just would like to remind you, that this is everyones "personal" favorite top 10. Not what everyones top 10 should be. And the alice inchains unpligged is up their for me. Go back and listen to the quality of the recording. Then you might understand. And stp has ALWAYS been and ALWAYS will be one of MY "personal" favorites. If you had actually listend to Shangra Ladi Da from a musical aspect, then your opinion would change. But remember i didnt put that album. Anyways it doesnt really matter comming from a person who thought Jimmi Hendrix played upside down. But its all good. _________________ ^v^ Yeah, Im in the band! ^v^

no particular order i guess..
1. Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Commatorium
Probably my favorite band of the moment, i always though cedric and omar were two of the best songwriters to put out material in the last few decades. and although this cd has not yet been released, i know it will be the best cd of 2003.
2. Radiohead - Ok Computer
The climax of Radioheads career... right now i think it has plateaud and all their material has been just as amazing, but this cd is a classic. every song is perfect, and its a mix of everything. perfect songwriting skills on their part.
3. Built to Spill - There is Nothing Wrong with Love
The perfect indie record. This band actually makes me cry when i hear them, and especially when i see them live; two days in a row. amazing band, the singer is like our generations neil young.
4. The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
An amazing accomplishment for the flaming lips. such a departure from their previous works. very heavily influenced by electronic music. one of the only bands with guys that look like your dad that rock out harder then bands your age. these guys got a grammy for it, and boy do they deserve it.
5. Skinny Puppy - Kill to Cure or Too Dark Park, cant decide
The best, and one of the original, INDUSTRIAL bands out there. i would put nine inch nails, but i think since skinny puppy made better industrial records, they should be on here. these two records are amazing... check out Tormentor or the song Dig It.
6. Wilco - Yankee Foxtrot Hotel
Jeff Tweedy is my favorite singer/songwriter. Every album wilco puts out is so different. a.m. was a very country influenced record, and was phenomenal, but this cd takes the cake. Its so diverse, with songs like Jesus Etc, or Heavy Metal Drummer, or one o fmy favs "Im THe Man that loves you."
7. Megadeth - Rust In Peace
The best metal album to come out in a LONG LONG time. unless you count scenes from a memory by dream theater, metal. every song on rust in peace is solid.. great metal riffs, my favorites.
8. Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antartica
modest mouse went to a major label and released a fuckin awesome album. they got experimental and tore shit up.. check out "Dark Center of th Universe."
9. Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
the inventors of modern alternative. they started it whether you can accept it or not, they were atleast one of the first few bands doin, since 1979. fantastic band.
10. Refused - The Shape of Punk To Come
the best hardcore record ever made. they got really experimental and ended up creating a record that was a mindfuck to the hardcore scene. songs like Liberation Frequency and The Deadly Rhythm are fuckin amazing. get those songs...
yeah so thats my top 10. |
